We are SOLD OUT of honey for 2022 & 2023
Stay tuned on our Facebook page for updates.
Our Products
Fireweed Honey- Most of our honey is made from nectar from fireweed flowers. We bring many of our hives into the subalpine fireweed meadows during the summer to take advantage of this flow. The honey is very light in colour, mild in flavour, quite sweet, and thick. It's called "The Champagne of Honeys" for good reason!
Wildflower Honey- A blend of whatever wildflowers our bees visited in the lowlands. Generally a mix of clover, blackberry, and hedgerow shrubs and herbs. It's a slightly darker blend that changes throughout the season, and from year to year.
Comb Honey - Honey with a thick slab of honeycomb in the jars. Limited availability after August.
Fireweed Pollen - Fireweed flowers produce a beautiful dark blue/purple pollen.
About Our Honey
Our honey is raw and unpasteurized to keep the beneficial enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants, etc. intact. We strain our honey through a course filter to remove bits of wax, but pollen grains and bits of propolis remain in the honey. Many believe that these traces of pollen and propolis are beneficial for seasonal allergies and immunity.
Raw honey is also a prebiotic, meaning it feeds the good bacteria in our gut. A healthy gut is related to increased physical and mental health. Read more about the benefits of honey here.
Honey is also a local sweetener, whereas different types of sugars need to be transported long distances (often using fossil fuels) to get to you.
Did you know that up to 25% of honey on grocery store shelves has been cut with other cheap sugar sources, such as corn syrup, rice, beet and other sugars? Yikes! All the more reason to know your beekeeper! Check out this article from CBC on the recent Canadian Food Inspection Agency tests.
